How to mail a PDF to someone in a Wyoming prison
Personal letters and printed pages go directly to the person’s WDOC facility. Wyoming is not on a statewide scan-to-tablet system — the incarcerated person receives the physical mail after inspection.
Covers Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) state prisons and honor camps. County jails and federal facilities in Wyoming have separate rules and addresses. Probation/parole correspondence goes through WDOC Central Office — not covered here.

Where to send mail
Personal mail from family and friends (including printed PDFs)
Use the WDOC offender locator for the inmate number and current facility, then WDOC Contact Us for that site’s mailing address. PP 5.401 requires the person’s confinement name with the inmate number immediately following on the first line, the facility name, then the facility address — plus your complete return address. Do not use titles, aliases, or nicknames.
[Full Name] [Inmate Number] [Facility Name] [Facility PO Box or street address] [City, WY ZIP]
Special cases
- Books, magazines, and other publications → Publisher only — not family in a letter
Inmates may receive publications directly from the publisher only. Hard-back books are prohibited regardless of source. Family and friends cannot order publications for delivery into a facility.
- Packages from friends and family → Not permitted
Outside friends and family are not permitted to mail packages to inmates — no exceptions (PP 5.401). Keep correspondence in a flat letter envelope within size and thickness limits.
- Legal / privileged mail → Facility, under privileged-mail procedures
Attorney mail must be clearly marked “LEGAL MAIL” on the addressee side of the envelope (set apart from addresses). Legal and official mail is opened for contraband in the inmate’s presence and is not read unless authorized. Mail over 3″ thick is treated as a package and returned unless pre-approved (Form #522).
- Funds → Access Secure Deposits — not cash in the envelope
Cash, checks, and money orders in the mail are contraband. Use WDOC-approved deposit channels (e.g. accesscorrections.com) instead of enclosing money with a PDF mailing.
Format & content rules
- Allowed enclosures in a personal letter include written correspondence, photocopies, small pamphlets, hand-made drawings, and personal photographs up to 8″ × 10″ — as long as total thickness does not exceed ¼″ and the envelope does not exceed 9″ × 12″ (PP 5.401 § IV.A.21).
- Printed PDF pages mailed as photocopies fit the enclosure rules above; the practical limit is thickness (¼″), not a published page count. Split very thick packets into multiple envelopes.
- Newspaper and magazine clippings and personal photographs each have a separate cap of 10 items per mailing. Self-developing photographs (e.g. Polaroid) are prohibited.
- Non-privileged mail is opened and may be read. Always put a complete return address on the envelope.
- Do not affix stickers, tape, glitter, perfume, or other uninspectable material to the envelope exterior — only postage, address labels, and return-address labels are allowed.
- Publications, sexually explicit material, gang-related content, escape instructions, and other prohibited content may be rejected or censored under PP 5.401.
Document mailing checklist
- Confirm the person is in WDOC prison custody (not county jail) and look up their inmate number and current facility.
- Look up the facility mailing address on WDOC’s Contact Us page (PO box when listed).
- Print on ordinary letter paper; keep the envelope within 9″ × 12″ and total thickness at or under ¼″.
- Address with confinement name + inmate number on line one, facility name and address below, include your return address, and mail as personal correspondence.
Send with PrisonPDF
- Upload a multi-page PDF or DOCX and we print and mail it for you.
- When you select Wyoming, you provide the facility mailing address from the offender locator — there is no statewide scan center.
- We do not review PDFs — WDOC may still reject or withhold mail that violates policy.
